Fáilte to Lisboa
On behalf of LX Celtiberos GAA, we're delighted to welcome your club to Lisbon for the Lisbon Blitz on Saturday 7 November 2026. This year's Blitz brings together clubs from across Ireland and the Iberian Peninsula for a full day of Gaelic4Mothers&Others football, complemented by senior men's games — followed that evening by a truly special piece of shared Irish–Portuguese history at the Convento do Bom Sucesso in Belém.
This pack covers everything you need for the day: venue and facilities, the participating clubs, the games programme, the day's timeline, and the official afterparty. Kick-off times and the final fixture list will follow closer to the day — but the essentials below should help you plan travel, food and a great weekend in Lisbon.
LX Celtiberos GAA, founded in 2017, is Lisbon's GAA club, playing under GAA Portugal / Gaelic Games Iberia. We'll field host teams across both the women's and men's programmes.
Games at St Julian's School, Carcavelos, from morning through early afternoon, with a lunch break on-site. Post-game food and drinks nearby, then into Belém for the evening reception at Convento do Bom Sucesso.
The full match schedule — kick-off times, pitch allocations and game lengths — is being finalised and circulated to club contacts ahead of the day. This pack gives the confirmed venue, clubs and day structure.
St Julian's School, Carcavelos
The Lisbon Blitz moves this year to the pitches of St Julian's School, set within the grounds of the historic Quinta Nova in Carcavelos — a genuine privilege to be playing there. The school occupies an 18th-century palace and estate built for José Francisco da Cruz, Treasurer to King D. José I, later home to the British Eastern Telegraph Company's transatlantic cable station, before St Julian's was founded on site in 1932.
The palace, gardens and pristine pitches run down to within a few hundred metres of Carcavelos beach — one of the most striking school settings in Europe. Pitches and daytime facilities are kindly provided by St Julian's, a working school as well as a heritage site — please see the Event Rules below for on-campus guidelines.

A sandwich bar / café will be open on-site all day for teas, coffees, cold drinks and light lunch food.
A qualified physio will be in attendance throughout the day for strapping, treatment and injury assessment.
Quinta Nova, Av. Jorge V 374, Carcavelos. About 20 min (under €20) by Uber/Bolt from central Lisbon; short walk from Carcavelos station.
The local food market — a short walk from St Julian's, with a range of stalls and casual food options.
Based inside Mercado de Carcavelos — a firm favourite with the LXC squad, and the go-to spot after games.
Who's coming to Lisbon
A warm welcome to every visiting club making the trip. The line-up below reflects clubs confirmed for the G4M&O women's programme and the senior men's games at the time of printing — a small number of details remain subject to change.
Porto Gaels are confirmed to field a senior men's team alongside LX Celtiberos; further visiting men's teams are still pending confirmation. Western Gaels (Roscommon) had been due to send a G4M&O team but are unable to attend this year — we hope to welcome them another year.

Convento do Bom Sucesso
After a day of Gaelic football, we're thrilled to invite players and supporters for unique, privileged access to the magnificent Convento do Bom Sucesso — whose management and staff have graciously agreed to open the historic doors of their central Belém facilities to the Irish community once again.
Food will be provided by the Convento / Colégio's own catering team, with a drinks bar courtesy of long-term GAA Portugal sponsor O'Gilíns Irish Pub, and a traditional music session from @lisbon.irish.session musicians.
When the doors close at 22:00, the night continues at O'Gilíns Irish Pub — our afterparty sponsors and a home away from home for the wider Lisbon GAA community.
Bom Sucesso & the Irish community
Founded in 1639, the Convent of Nossa Senhora do Bom Sucesso in Belém holds a unique place in the shared history of Portugal and Ireland. It is widely recognised as the oldest Irish religious foundation established outside Ireland, created by Irish Dominican nuns who had fled political and religious persecution at home.
With the support of the Portuguese Crown, the convent became a sanctuary for Irish women seeking safety, education and spiritual life during a turbulent period in Irish history. The founder was Father Dominic O'Daly, of the O'Dalaigh family of Kilkorsan, Co. Kerry — later Ambassador for the Braganza King D. João IV in France, and Confessor to Queen D. Luísa de Gusmão.
The church was completed in 1670. For over three centuries it was home to a community of Irish Dominican nuns — originally devoted to prayer and later to education. Bom Sucesso remains a site of profound historical significance, representing approaching four centuries of Irish presence abroad. The convent's spaces are now cared for and shared with the community by CBS Management & Staff.
Please treat the Heritage Room and the wider convent with real care and respect — our access is a privilege extended by CBS Management & Staff, not a standard commercial booking.
Travel in style & grab a memento
To mark this year's Blitz, we've worked with Irish kit specialists McKeever Sports on a limited-edition training and leisurewear line carrying the official Lisbon Blitz crest.
A link will be shared with Club Reps soon for individual orders and direct fulfilment in time for the Blitz — at a club-discounted price for anyone who played or volunteered on the day.
Event rules & code of conduct
St Julian's School has generously opened its campus to the Lisbon Blitz. The following house rules apply on school grounds throughout the day, in addition to the normal rules of Gaelic football and standard GAA player conduct.
- Stay in designated areas. Please keep to the pitches, sidelines, changing areas and café space allocated for the event. The palace building, staff areas and other parts of the campus are not open to visitors.
- Alcohol-free campus. St Julian's is a working school — no alcohol is permitted anywhere on the grounds at any point during the day. Please save celebrations for Koya's, the beach, or the evening afterparty.
- Respect the heritage site. The palace and grounds are almost 300 years old and hold real historical significance. Please treat all buildings, gardens and grounds with care, and follow any instructions from school staff or GAA stewards.
- Children & supervision. Any children attending as spectators must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times, and kept away from pitches while play is live.
- Footwear. Studded boots are for pitch use only — please change into flat shoes before walking on hard-standing, corridors or the café area.
- Litter & recycling. Please use the bins provided and leave the site as you find it. Smoking is not permitted anywhere on campus.
- Parking. Follow signage and steward direction on arrival; please do not park across neighbouring residential access points.
- Photography & media. Photos and video may be taken for club and GAA Portugal social media and promotional use. Please let a steward know if you'd prefer not to be included.
- Weather & changes on the day. The organisers reserve the right to adjust pitch allocations, timings or game formats on the day, including in response to weather, and will communicate changes to team contacts as they arise.
- Follow the stewards. GAA Portugal / LX Celtiberos stewards will be identifiable on the day — please follow their guidance at all times, particularly around pitch changeovers and departure.
Participation & liability waiver
Assumption of risk. Gaelic football is a contact sport and participation carries an inherent risk of injury. By taking part in the Lisbon Blitz on Saturday 7 November 2026 at St Julian's School, Carcavelos, each player, coach and team official confirms that they take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own fitness to play.
Club responsibility. Each participating club is responsible for satisfying itself that its players and officials hold appropriate personal accident / sports injury insurance cover, and that all players are registered and eligible to play under their county board / GAA Portugal rules, as applicable.
Medical information. Team contacts should ensure that any relevant medical conditions or allergies affecting their players are known to their own team management, and that a first-aid kit and contact for emergency services is available to each travelling party.
Venue conduct. Participants and supporters agree to comply with the Event Rules & Code of Conduct above, including the alcohol-free policy on school grounds, at all times while on the St Julian's School campus.
Photography & media consent. Participants consent to being photographed or filmed during the event for use in GAA Portugal and LX Celtiberos promotional and social media material, unless they notify a steward otherwise on the day.
Liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, GAA Portugal, LX Celtiberos, St Julian's School and the Convento do Bom Sucesso accept no liability for loss, damage, illness or injury arising from participation in, or attendance at, the Lisbon Blitz and associated events, save where such liability cannot be excluded by law.
This is a general-purpose participation waiver for the Lisbon Blitz and is not a substitute for legal advice. GAA Portugal / LX Celtiberos should have it reviewed against their own insurance policy and, if required, local Portuguese requirements before circulation to clubs.
Safe travels — see you on the pitch
